DREAM PRIDE IN COLOUR

First and foremost, the P in Pearadox stands for Pride. We are inspired.

The first Pride Flag was created in 1978 by Gilbert Baker, a gay man and drag queen. The artist was asked by City Supervisor Harvey Milk and other activists to create a new symbol for LGBTQ+ Pride, which would be unveiled at the June event. The first versions of the flag featured 8 colors, and were first flown June 25, 1978, for the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day parade.

The Pride Flag is the international and most commonly known symbol of LGBTQ+ Pride. Its original creator, Gilbert Baker, saw flags as the most powerful symbol of Pride.

In an interview, he once said "Our job as gay people was to come out, to be visible, to live in the truth, as I say, to get out of the lie.
A flag really fit that mission, because that’s a way of proclaiming your visibility or saying, ‘This is who I am!’”

The flags have changed for many reasons, both in their colors and their designs. The collective colors in the original pride flag were meant to mimic all the colors of the rainbow, but did you know each individual color has a specific meaning?

The original flag, known as the rainbow flag, included pink, red, orange, yellow, green, turquoise, blue and purple stripes. Later on the pink stripe was removed due to the unavailability of the fabric in this color, together with the turquoise stripe, in order to get an even amount of colors in the flag.
The actual six-color pride flag features red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet stripes.

As The hot pink stripe that was later removed was meant to symbolize Sex. But this color, as well as all the other ones, has other associations. Rachelle Terry, professional aura reader, says that, spiritually, each color has a given meaning; and having an aura of a certain color indicates different qualities and personality traits a person might have.

According to her, a PINK AURA means you´re kind, caring, sensitive and loving. It is also regarded as the color which represents "all things good in the world".
 Romance, Creativity & Nurturing Personalities.

Before it was removed, the turquoise stripe was representative of Art and Magic. Spiritually, it is a color that represents a calming and wise energy, it brings tranquility, patience and loyalty.

People with turquoise auras are said to have a desire to make their own way in the world.
It stands for uniqueness and a need to express your hopes and dreams.

The red stripe, which is the first color in the six-color flag, represents Life. According to Terry, who has had the ability to read auras since childhood,
RED AURA makes you an energetic and fiery person.
Someone who is very quick in putting their thoughts into actions.
Spiritually, it relates to
Power, Strength, & Passion.

Directly below Red, the Orange stripe represents Healing.
Spiritually, it is known as the color of creativity and adventure, it is energetic and said to be able to uplift moods.
A person with an ORANGE AURA  is said to be
Extroverted, Creative& Pragmatic

The Yellow stripe is representative of Sunlight. The meaning it was given for the flag is very similar to the attributions of a YELLOW AURA.

According to Terry, people with this color aura are sunny and charismatic.
They have a magnetic personality, and are usually very confident and empowered. Spiritually yellow is the color of
Confidence, Manifestation, Creativity & Acceptance.

The Green stripe, as one may assume, represents Nature. Spiritually, it is a symbol of good health and wealth. A GREEN AURA relates to the matters of the heart, love for yourself and others and compassion. People with this color aura are said to be
Musical, Naturists & Unrestrained.

Next, the Blue stripe stands for Serenity.
People with a BLUE AURA have powerful and insightful minds that may get lost in the clouds.
It brings tranquility and helps us remain calm.
According to Terry, spiritually the color Blue represents
Loyalty, Peace & Honesty

The last color of the rainbow: Violet, purple, indigo. It can go by many names, but in both the original and the six-striped Pride flag, it stands for Spirit.
People with a PURPLE AURA tend to get a lot of attention, as the color is associated with intuition, sensitivity and empathy.
Spiritually, purple is the color of
Royalty, Compassion & Creativity.

New and more inclusive Pride Flags have been created these past years, and they appear to have taken center stage in recent Pride Parades and other events.
The Philadelphia Pride Flag, unveiled in 2017, featured, on top of the original six-stripes, two brown and black stripes ones.
This flag was designed to embrace people of color within the LGBTQIA+ community, and it was created by design company Tierney.

The newest Pride flag, though, is the “Progress” Flag, created in 2018 by Daniel Quasar. It adds a chevron along the hoist that features black, brown, light blue, pink, and white stripes, to the six-stripes design.
These colors have been added to bring the marginalized people of color, trans individuals, people living with HIV/AIDS, and those who have been lost, to the forefront, and addresses the progress that still needs to be made towards being truly inclusive.

Gilbert Baker gave meaning to each colour of the iconic rainbow flag...🏳️‍🌈
All the colors in the rainbow flag are meant to inspire us.
Pearadox aligns with this purpose to illuminate LGBTQIA+ & our allies.
No other community truly embraces Love to the same extent.

"THE RAINBOW IS A PART NATURE, AND YOU HAVE TO BE IN THE RIGHT PLACE TO SEE IT.
IT'S BEAUTIFUL, ALL OF THE COLOURS. EVEN THE COLOURS YOU CAN'T SEE.
THAT REALLY FITS US AS PEOPLE, BECAUSE WE ARE ALL OF THE COLOURS.
THE RAINBOW FLAG IS BEAUTIFUL, BECAUSE IT'S ABOUT LOVE"
